YogaSix: Something for Everyone

YogaSix: Something for Everyone

Inspired by the New Urbanism design of Prairie Trail that encourages an active lifestyle, Taryn Henderson is bringing a new yoga and fitness studio to The District - YogaSix.

"I love the idea of a community designed around healthier lifestyles. For instance, where people walk and bike to shops, restaurants and community events," she says. "There is so much going on in The District! Consequently, we think this is a community that will really support an alternative fitness option."

The yoga and fitness studio, YogaSix, will open Spring 2020. It joins several other athletic facilities in The District. CampusCycle is a spin studio. Pure Barre offers strength training with the use of a ballet barre.

"We know fitness is important to Prairie Trail residents so are excited to have YogaSix join a growing list of fitness options in The District," says Ashley Johnson, director of marketing for DRA Properties. DRA Properties is the developer of Prairie Trail.

For Beginners to Experienced Practitioners

A previous owner of three Sun Tan City salons in the Des Moines area, Henderson was looking for a new franchise opportunity. Then, she was introduced to YogaSix. "I really love yoga so was drawn to it," Henderson says. "I think there are a lot of people who don't necessarily see themselves doing yoga. And then, there are more experienced practitioners. It's a really welcoming, empowering and fun environment."

The yoga studio has six different core class types. They range from hot and powerful to slow and mindful. They also offer beginner and sculpt classes. There are over 410 YogaSix locations opening across the country, says Henderson.

The new studio will be located at 1510 SW Vintage Parkway, Ankeny. For more information:
